Jewellery Guide
Certifications & assurance
Certifications exist to make the quality of your jewellery easy to understand and compare. Independent grading and clear hallmarks give you confidence in the stones, the gold, and the way each piece has been crafted.
Diamonds
Grown diamonds graded by respected international laboratories using the 4Cs.
Gold
Hallmarked 18K gold so you know the purity and alloy have been independently checked.
Documentation
Clear paperwork and digital records that make it easy to refer back later.
Diamond grading reports
A diamond grading report describes the key characteristics of a stone using the 4Cs: cut, colour, clarity, and carat. For lab-grown diamonds, recognised laboratories provide the same level of detail that you would expect for mined diamonds.
- Each report is specific to a single diamond and is not a valuation.
- The report number can often be verified on the laboratory's official website.
- Many stones have the report number micro-inscribed on the girdle for easy identification.
We focus on reports from established international laboratories so that grading standards remain consistent and straightforward to compare.
Gold purity & hallmarks
Fine jewellery is usually made in 18K gold, balancing richness of colour with everyday durability. Hallmarks and stamps on the inside of the piece indicate the metal purity and, in many regions, the authorised assay office or jeweller.
- A typical 18K gold mark indicates that 75% of the alloy is pure gold, with the remainder chosen for strength and colour.
- You may also see additional marks that identify the maker or certify local quality standards.
In India, this often includes a BIS hallmark and unique identification details so you can trace the piece with confidence.
What to look for when you buy
When you review documentation for a piece, focus on clarity around:
- The type of stone: lab-grown diamond, natural diamond, or another gemstone.
- The grading laboratory and report number for principal stones.
- The karatage and colour of the metal used in the piece.
- Any warranties, cleaning services, or buyback policies attached to the piece.
If anything is unclear, ask for it to be explained in simple language. Your jewellery should feel as honest and reassuring on paper as it does when you wear it.
